Spring is on it's way

Here are a few photos of flowers which have started to appear in my new garden! Aren't they lovely - I do not know all their names but they have made me smile all this week.

Where did all those days go??

I cannot believe that it has been so long since I blogged here! Poor neglected Blog!
Anyway, since my last post I have
a) Moved house
b) Realised how big my Stash really is
c) Experienced snow every week since we moved
d) Started, but not finished lots of little projects
e) Enjoyed Christmas in our new home with an unexpected guest at the table
f) Lost so many things I have stopped counting
g) Managed to get to the Centurion Knitting Group and see all my old friends and make some new ones
h) Started Workshopping again - Ilkley, Lewes, Crawcrook to name but a few places visited so far
So, all in all not bad really?
In my new home, (which I love) my desk and pc are in the bay window over looking the back garden. This is fantastic, however, I spend more time gazing out watching the birds, cats and daydreaming than actually working! So, my desk location may need to change.
Will try and post some photos later...
And... for those who are looking for my patterns to download - at the moment they are only available via Ravelry but, I am working on it!

Wind, rain, warmth!

What an amazing day - torrential rain, really high winds! I am often surprised at the strength of the wind here in Newcastle. My tree is almost bare now, and the road covered in slippery, slimy leaves. Nothing to do then, but stay home and knit.
I should really have been packing more boxes but...
My Rayburn has been fixed - we have been without central heating and hot water downstairs since the beginning of September. It has been horrible - the house became so cold. I did not realise how much we all relied on our Rayburn. Anyway, she is mended, for now and we are warm and the cats are - guess? yes, in the kitchen on the blanket!

We Are Moving!

It's official - we are moving!

I am living in a transient wolrd of cardboard boxes, spooked cats and dsiorganisation - and it's a nightmare.

Add to that my attempts at uploading some of my designs on Ravelry and not really succeeding - I am ready for a large G&T!

Houses and Homes

Our beautiful Edwardian home is back on the market. What this means to me is
a) all my projects have to be tidied away
b) all my stash has to be hidden from view
c) all my knitting books and magazines have to be put back on the bookshelves when not in use
d) my little table which is normally a jumble of needles, yarn, ball bands, notes, scissors, etc has to be empty - nothing on it - at all!

It's a nightmare for a Knitter as you can imagine. The whole thing of keeping a tidy and presentable home whilst working, knitting, designing, relaxing and being part of a very hectic household drives me crazy - just in case you get a phone call from the Estate Agent with those words 'We'd like to arrange a viewing'! I have been known to put my ironing pile in my car just to get it out of the way, how bad is that?
But, it has to go - we need a smaller home - I need to de-clutter and de-stash - and I hate it.
But, it does mean I may get to have a garden again. It will also mean when I get home from my travels I will not feel that all my time is spent IN the house, house working. and there you have it. The living, being, knitting, creating, sitting quietly with one or two cats make it a home - the hoovering, polishing, cleaning, fixing make it a house!

Cats

We have 2 cats, Mittens and Pebbles. They are brothers, from the same litter, but are so different. Mittens is large and thoughtful, Pebbles is slim and a bit flighty! They are a constant source of comfort and amusement - I cannot imagine my home without the presence of a cat.
This was taken shortly after they arrived 5 years ago.

Brilliant Day & Fantastic Support

I had a fabulous time on 'my' Plinth and was overwhelmed by the number of flowers I received from generous friends around the world.

You can check out what I did here http://www.oneandother.co.uk/participants/AnneM

Thank you everyone who sent me flowers, messages of support and were watching me (either knitting in the Square or via the live feed).
